Katherine Curchin is currently a Research Fellow under an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2014-2017).
Biography
Katherine is an applied political philosopher with research interests in social policy, Indigenous policy and public administration in Australia. Her current research project, 'Reconciling Rival Visions of Indigenous Development', compares and evaluates Noel Pearson and Jon Altman's ideas concerning economic development in remote regions of Australia. She has also written on topics within normative political philosophy such as deliberative democracy and distributive justice.
Her doctoral thesis examined the limits of tolerance and the politics of cultural accommodation through case studies of controversial cultural practices in New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Before joining CAEPR in 2013 Katherine was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the College of Business and Economics at ANU on the ARC Linkage Project, 'The Practice of Accountability in Indigenous Corporations in Australia', which explored the work of the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations.
