At TiTree Gayle Campbell and Lana Campbell have worked with elders to produce oral histories of the Titree region. These were written up in Anmatyerr and English and during a Certificate 1 in Own Language course with the Centre for Aboriginal Languages and Linguistics at BIITE with linguist Margaret Carew. At Lajamanu Shane White and Maxwell Tasman have developed media skills with PAW Media . Recently they also worked with NTL trainer Jay Gibson to set up the Lajamanu OurStory archival database in the recently opened LKC.

Introductory:

The Northern Territory Library supports remote community (LKC). In some LKCs young people are being trained to use the Our Story archival database program. In this way young people are taking responsibility for archiving and documenting community knowledge. They import media items, understand file formats and add the metadata. Here the work of young adults is validated by their elders who need them to mediate between old knowledge and new technologies. Simultaneously young people are engaging in cultural maintenance activities as the facilitators of digital media. Research has been conducted at TiTree and Lajamanu LKCs.
