Mapping the Indigenous Economy

The ANU has entered into a collaborative partnership with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Macquarie Dictionary Publishers to produce a second edition of the Macquarie Atlas of Indigenous Australia (Arthur and Morphy 2005). This seminar presents some preliminary maps on the Indigenous economy using the latest available data. The presentation will have a considerable focus on the maps that were not available for the first edition, but will document updated maps where available. For example detailed maps of the geographic distribution of Indigenous owner-managers of incorporated and unincorporated enterprises will be analysed. The presenters will reflect on the implications of the maps of the Indigenous economy for researchers and policy makers.
